    Description

For sale is an incredibly rare 1917-D Variety 2 Standing Liberty Silver Quarter graded and certified by PCGS as AU-55. The Standing Liberty Quarter was minted between 1916 & 1930 until it was replaced by the current Washington Quarter, and it is one of the most gorgeous US coin designs ever minted. 1916 & 1917 has two varieties of the coin which basically has two differences. The major difference is on the reverse Variety 1 coins such as this one has no stars under the eagle where the Variety 2 has three stars below the eagle. The other difference was on the Variety 1 coin Lady Liberty has one of her breasts showing. This was so controversial when the coin was released that the public demanded the coin changed, so the Variety 2 coins, like this one, have the breast covered up. Being a Variety 2 coin makes this coin rare in and of itself, but being a high grade and certified makes it even more rare, making this is a very top shelf coin. Like all Standing Liberty Quarters this coin is 90% silver.
As you can see from the pics this coin is in amazing shape, and it is very tough to find ANY Standing Liberty Quarter in high grades, let alone early ones like this. All the fine details are clear and sharp on both sides, and it has a nice ash patina to it. The coin has no major flaws, and no real toning at all.
Here is your chance to own a very special coin that not many people out there have. Thanks!
