She was born in Canada and gained fame later in her life in the US, playing mothers and grandmothers on the stage and in films, including many westerns. Her first film appearance was in “The Wine of Madness” (1913) at the age of 43. She made Broadway appearances in Under Pressure (1918) and Plain Jane (1924). From 1931-1937, from the age of 61-67, she appeared in 18 Hollywood films, including the westerns Sundown Trail, When a Man Rides Alone, The Dude Ranger, Cowboy Holiday, Helldorado, and The Old Wyoming Trail. She died at the age of 82, her obituary appearing in the New York Times. She poses standing and facing her right, wearing flowers in her hair, a necklace, a long gown with a bouquet of flowers at the waist, and holding a bouquet of flowers before her face.
Photography studio: Shadle & Busser, York, PA. Some soiling, spotting, and stains. There is pencil writing on the reverse, but nothing relevant to the photo. Exhibits slight warping typical of cabinet cards. I have seen only one other, different cabinet card of Alma Chester.
