    Description

    On May 12, 1948 Capital Airlines extended Air Mail Route 55 nonstop from Charleston to Atlanta, and also extended Air Mail Route 55 from the Tri-Cities (Bristol / Kingsport / Johnson City), via Asheville, to Atlanta. Asheville did not receive service until May 13.
    No official cachets were provided by the Post Office Department.
