Description
In the Kansas - Oklahoma Local Service Case, extensive changes were made in the flight pattern of Air Mail Route 81 and a new portion designated as Segment 9 was authorized between Kansas City, Missouri and Denver, Colorado on March 13, 1961.This cover was
carried on the inaugural Air Mail Route 81 flight from Junction City, Kansas to Kansas City, Missouri (where it was backstamped) and is listed in the Contract Air Mail Flights (CAM) Section of The American Air Mail Catalogue as 81E70.
Effective October 1, 1967, Central Airlines and Frontier Airlines were merged with Frontier Airlines being the survivor company. The certificate for the operation of Air Mail Route 81 formerly held by Central was reissued to Frontier and although Air Mail Route 81 retained its identity, Frontier assumed route authority effective this date.
