    Description

The ripples set in motion by National Airlines during the last days of 1958, with the inauguration of scheduled pure jet flights, were turning into a flood tide by June of 1959. On June 8, 1959, Continental Airlines made its bow in the pure jet spotlight with Boeing 707 nonstop flights between Los Angeles and Chicago.
This cover was carried on the
inaugural Air Mail Route 29 Jet flight from Chicago, Illinois to
    Los Angeles, California
(where it was backstamped) and is listed in the Jet Age Flights Section of The American Air Mail Catalogue as J-91.
