    Description

On December 2, 1951 Selma was added to Air Mail Route 24 eastbound between Meridian, Mississippi, and Montgomery, Alabama, and westbound between Montgomery and Jackson, Mississippi. An official pictorial cachet was applied.
The Selfield Airport at Selma was dedicated on this date.
This cover was carried on the inaugural Air Mail Route 24 flight from Selma, Alabama to Atlanta, Georgia (where it was backstamped) and is listed in the Contract Air Mail Flights (CAM) Section of The American Air Mail Catalogue as 33W94.
Lester Manning, a noted air mail historian, prepared the cover.
