Hayden, Steamboat Springs, and Craig (jointly served through the Yampa Valley Airport) were added to Air Mail Route 73 on October 9, 1966, as a stop between Denver, Colorado and Vernal, Utah. Because of conditions at Vernal's airport, flights between Salt Lake City and the Yampa Valley Airport operated nonstop.The Yampa Valley Airport was dedicated on this date.
