    Description

Hayden, Steamboat Springs, and Craig (jointly served through the Yampa Valley Airport) were added to Air Mail Route 73 on October 9, 1966, as a stop between Denver, Colorado and Vernal, Utah. Because of conditions at Vernal's airport, flights between Salt Lake City and the Yampa Valley Airport operated nonstop.
The Yampa Valley Airport was dedicated on this date.
This cover was carried on the inaugural Air Mail Route 73 flight from Hayden, Colorado to Salt Lake City, Utah
(where it was backstamped) and is listed in the Contract Air Mail Flights (CAM) section of The American Air Mail Catalogue as 73W78.
Bob Haring, a former Editor-in-Chief of The American Air Mail Catalogue, prepared the cover.
