Whether you are a beginner, intermediate, or advanced collector, you will love
Hartland Horsemen. If you simply want to identify Hartland riders and their horses
and hats, guns, saddles, etc., and get an idea of what's scarce and pricing ranges
for various levels of completeness and condition, this guide will help immensely.
Hartland stands alone in the quality and quantity of its plastic horse-and-rider
sets. The over six dozen sets depicting characters in TV westerns and historical
heroes were made in four scales, and most had at leastfive pieces per set.
Nearly every hat was a different shape. A total of about 150 horses, mostly 8"
or taller -- were used with the riders. Many riders transitioned among two or
more horses during the 1950s-1960s. It's a complex and breathtaking body of
work. With their finely-molded detail and precision painting, they were too good
to be toys, but we played with them anyway!
This book will help you match the correct horses, riders, saddles, hats, guns, etc.
Reading about the TV shows and actors will take you back to the time when
westerns dominated TV. The book includes interviews with Hartland officials,
whom the author began locating in 1980, and historic photos in addition to
the 500+ color photos. Hartland Horsemen includes original prices, value
ranges, and scarcity ratings that never become outdated.
Most rider sets and extra horses with reins were released in the 1950s and
    1960s, but this book also includes the 1970s, '80s, and '90s re-releases.
(Note: the 1950s-1990s "regular" or "individual" Hartland horses -- the ones
without reins or riders -- are in a separate book, Hartland Horses and Dogs.)
