    Description

    This cover was carried on a Navy survey flight over Wake Island, ultimately arriving in Honolulu at the Naval Air Base, Pearl Harbor on March 15, 1935.
    Cover included:
    2/25/1935 Manila cancel.  The cover has the familiar block print "First Flight Wake Island" cachet and additional postmark at the Naval Air Base, Pearl Harbor, Honolulu, in March 11.  It is listed in the American Airmail Catalog (AAMC), 5th Edition, Volume 4, as Trans-Oceanic Record Flight #1228 variation. It is addressed to Navy pilot LT J. S. Johnson.
    Condition is as shown in the pics.  There is toning, but the cover is still quite attractive.
    An identical cover (but in better condition) just sold recently in a major auction for 0.
