Foreign Air Mail Route 48, authorized by the Civil Aeronautics Board at the same time as Eastern Airlines’ new Bahamas authority, gave Northeast Airlines (later absorbed by Delta Airlines) its first overseas operation. The first flight went Boston - New York - Freeport - Nassau - New York – Boston.This cover was carried on the May 15, 1968 inaugural Foreign Air Mail Route 48 flight from Boston, Massachusetts to Nassau
