Description
VERY RARE ADVERTISING POCKET MIRROR. CANNOT FIND EVIDENCE OF ANOTHER KENNYWOOD PARK MIRROR LIKE THIS ONE IN EXISTENCE !!Found one other circa 1905 that sold at auction in 2013. This one and that one make two of any variety that I could find for this park !!
Mirror is
3.5 inches in diameter with lightly tinted real photo showing park as it was around year 1900. The park was established outside Pittsburgh, PA. in 1898 and continues to operate today. Detail is incredible, showing people in row boats going under a very old, arched bridge. People on the shore are sitting and watching.
Mostly shades of brown and white but with some green color in the trees.
The mirror itself is intact with reflective surface. Maybe a dozen or so very tiny specks in it. The black paint on the raised metal holder is mostly worn off. Overall appearance is VERY GOOD !!
The celluloid picture has a vertical crack in the middle as seen in the scans. It extends about half way across. A couple more very small and very, very light raised areas are seen to the right. When tilted some old "tape residue" or ?? can be seen. Most likely removable but not worth the risk for me to try. Not very noticeable when looking straight on at this GREAT ANTIQUE MIRROR !!
Overall this is a RARE AND PLEASING LOOKING ANTIQUE POCKET MIRROR !!
Thanks for looking.
