In the center is a two page map showing ranges and townships in the Shields River Valley, and their relation to the main line of the Northern Pacific Railway.
The covers are printed in orange and black with an illustration of a farmer leaning on his pitch fork, and a loaded horse - drawn wagon in the background. There is a fold out map showing Northern Pacific's routes across America, and black and white half tone photos printed on coated stock, with descriptive text; stamp of Northern Pacific representative in Los Angeles on front cover not affecting image or contents. Printed logo for Northern Pacific "Yellowstone Park Line" on back cover.
